Moms, real question here. How often are you popping that cup of coffee in the microwave? You make that delicious and savory first cup in the morning and then… you get distracted. Coffee gets cold. Into the microwave it goes! Cold again. Heat it up! Again! Over and over and over.
Sound about right? Are you tired of this refrain? May I make a suggestion?
Join me on the Cold Brew Coffee Side.
First of all, let me break down that it is a fight you don’t have to worry about anymore. If I have learned anything about being a mom, it’s to pick my battles… and honestly, hot coffee is not a battle I want to fight. Enter cold brew coffee.
Admittedly, you do have to plan for it a bit, but please don’t let that deter you. I have found that I can take cold brew coffee black, something I could never do with hot brewed coffee. Why? Cold brew coffee just tastes smoother, less acidic to me. Need a little backup? According to Healthy Living Made Simple:
Coffee brewed hot is far more acidic than cold-brewed, according to a number of scientific studies, and some say cold-brewed coffee even has a sweeter taste because of its lower acidity.
How is that not a winner? Sweeter? Less acidic?
I’m already on-board.
What’s that? You need a little more? How about some additional health benefits:
- Improved liver function
- Decreased incidence of Type 2 diabetes
- Reduced Alzheimer’s risk
- Longer life
I’m sure there are other great attributes, but I feel like we’re closing in getting you board to give cold brew another go.
And here’s another great thing: if you’re doing a Whole30 round, cold brew coffee is compliant. But just in case you need to add a little something, make sure you’re choosing a quality non-dairy milk (my preference is some cashew milk by MALK).
Are you convinced yet? Tell me more about your coffee preferences below!
