I have to tell y’all something incredibly flattering that happened to me the other day (and I hope you’ll share in the excitement with me!). After joining Java Momma not that long ago, I was able to progress to a leadership position (something incredibly exciting!). I’ve been in direct sales for over a year now – and I’ve recently passed my first anniversary with Beautycounter! – and in striving to be a semi-decent consultant, I’ve taken a fair number of direct sales training courses. I’ve poked around in seminars and webinars, read a variety of e-books, participated in some great Facebook groups… basically anything that could provide a direct sales training focus that would allow me to feel as authentic and organic as possible.
Because let’s be honest, one of the things that makes all of us feel a little squeamish about direct sales is that it can feel slimy. And spammy. And pushy. And like the other person on the conversation is either a checkbox on a to-do list or a stooge with dollar signs floating overhead.
I would like to think that, through some of my direct sales training, I’ve picked up a couple of tips and tricks. And maybe that’s where you are in your direct sales journey, too. Maybe you’ve been moving along just fine, and you’re looking for some new info and insight. Maybe you’re contemplating joining up with a direct sales company, and some of the concerns I’ve mentioned above are holding you back. Or maybe you have a friend on Facebook who posts something about their direct sales company every other post, and rather than hide or unfollow them, you’d like to shoot them something constructive that could maybe help them out.

Direct Sales Training Courses to Help Your Direct Sales Business
Wait a second, you say. Why am I starting here instead of Make Oodles of Money?
Hear me out on this. When you use Attraction Marketing as one of the foundations of your direct sales business, it can help grow your direct sales business tremendously! So starting here is really helpful and can be pretty transformative! Simply put, it helps you to establish the framework to build relationships, be open and authentic, and – wait for it – attract clients and team members to you.
One of the other tips and tricks that’s key within this 1-hour video course is that it helps with how you navigate social media. So many of us are on some form of a social media platform, be it Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest or Snapchat, and it’s wise to cultivate those platforms and tools as a way to build relationships rather than make sales (again, where there are relationships, there will be sales… and not just pity purchases from your mother!). This direct sales training helps you to engage with your audience and ideal clients in a way that’s meaningful and valuable.
Admittedly, this is an area that I struggle with. Greatly. But that’s my struggle… and here’s why.
A lot of times, I worry and fear that a client of mine is going to tell me that they absolutely hate what they ordered. It’s the worst. It’s the pits. Why would I have wasted their time and money? And so, like an ostrich, I can bury my head in the sand. Or alternatively, life gets in the way, and every day can feel like a struggle. So I can go radio silent on clients.
In short: Not. Good.
But if we’re using Attraction Marketing and focusing on building relationships, following up is another foundational aspect that you need to incorporate into your direct sales business. Because here’s the thing: if you’re working really hard to be authentic and organic and develop relationships with your clients, you need to help take care of them post-purchase… and that sometimes means swallowing the frog and hearing that someone may not love the product that you would enshrine in gold. Or owning up to mistakes you’ve made.
