I have to tell y’all something incredibly flattering that happened to me the other day (and I hope you’ll share in the excitement with me!). After joining Java Momma not that long ago, I was able to progress to a leadership position (something incredibly exciting!). And one of the things that I think is pretty great with Java Momma is that the leadership team is coordinating different direct sales training sessions for the leaders… which are lead by the other Java Momma leaders.
And they asked me!
I’ll give you a second to catch your breath, too, because WHAT?!
I’ve been in direct sales for over a year now – and I’ve recently passed my first anniversary with Beautycounter! – and in striving to be a semi-decent consultant, I’ve taken a fair number of direct sales training courses. I’ve poked around in seminars and webinars, read a variety of e-books, participated in some great Facebook groups… basically anything that could provide a direct sales training focus that would allow me to feel as authentic and organic as possible.
Because let’s be honest, one of the things that makes all of us feel a little squeamish about direct sales is that it can feel slimy. And spammy. And pushy. And like the other person on the conversation is either a checkbox on a to-do list or a stooge with dollar signs floating overhead.
I would like to think that, through some of my direct sales training, I’ve picked up a couple of tips and tricks. And maybe that’s where you are in your direct sales journey, too. Maybe you’ve been moving along just fine, and you’re looking for some new info and insight. Maybe you’re contemplating joining up with a direct sales company, and some of the concerns I’ve mentioned above are holding you back. Or maybe you have a friend on Facebook who posts something about their direct sales company every other post, and rather than hide or unfollow them, you’d like to shoot them something constructive that could maybe help them out.
Whatever the reason, I’ve compiled some of my favorite direct sales training courses that just might help you (or that friend!) out.
Direct Sales Training Courses to Help Your Direct Sales Business
Wait a second, you say. Why am I starting here instead of Make Oodles of Money?
Hear me out on this. When you use Attraction Marketing as one of the foundations of your direct sales business, it can help grow your direct sales business tremendously! So starting here is really helpful and can be pretty transformative! Simply put, it helps you to establish the framework to build relationships, be open and authentic, and – wait for it – attract clients and team members to you.
One of the other tips and tricks that’s key within this 1-hour video course is that it helps with how you navigate social media. So many of us are on some form of a social media platform, be it Facebook or Instagram or Pinterest or Snapchat, and it’s wise to cultivate those platforms and tools as a way to build relationships rather than make sales (again, where there are relationships, there will be sales… and not just pity purchases from your mother!). This direct sales training helps you to engage with your audience and ideal clients in a way that’s meaningful and valuable.
Admittedly, this is an area that I struggle with. Greatly. But that’s my struggle… and here’s why.
A lot of times, I worry and fear that a client of mine is going to tell me that they absolutely hate what they ordered. It’s the worst. It’s the pits. Why would I have wasted their time and money? And so, like an ostrich, I can bury my head in the sand. Or alternatively, life gets in the way, and every day can feel like a struggle. So I can go radio silent on clients.
In short: Not. Good.
But if we’re using Attraction Marketing and focusing on building relationships, following up is another foundational aspect that you need to incorporate into your direct sales business. Because here’s the thing: if you’re working really hard to be authentic and organic and develop relationships with your clients, you need to help take care of them post-purchase… and that sometimes means swallowing the frog and hearing that someone may not love the product that you would enshrine in gold. Or owning up to mistakes you’ve made.
The Fortune in the Follow-Up direct sales training course includes a workbook and walks you through a variety of methods (with scripts!) for you to incorporate into your direct sales business. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve referred to those scripts!
Here’s the sneaky yet wonderful thing about Facebook: it is so insanely probable that a lot of your family, friends, coworkers, potential clients, existing clients are already on Facebook (there are at least 2 billion on there right now!). And one of the things that you’re going to learn from Attraction Marketing and Fortune in the Follow-Up is to meet your clients where they area.
Which is on Facebook.
So this direct sales training course is all about Facebook.
Here’s the thing that I have liked so much about Epic Facebook Parties: not every post is about sale sale sale.
I could stay up late at night and watch an infomercial. I don’t really want to go onto Facebook for the same. I want to login to Facebook to connect with people, learn about their lives, see their adorable baby pictures, commiserate with them when their kids won’t sleep, or insert an obnoxious GIF in a comment thread to make someone laugh. And that’s something that I love about Epic Facebook Parties.
The Epic Facebook Parties direct sales training course includes videos and workbooks to help you plot out ways to have an engaging and fun party (I’ve used them with my Beautycounter business!). The direct sales training workbook includes a sample Facebook party outline (so you can totally customize it and make it your own!), sample party ideas, how to build a party playlist in Spotify. This workbook provides you with some great tools to help grow your direct sales business in a fun, engaging way.
Dovetailing off of Epic Facebook Parties is going to be your hostess coaching. Hostess coaching in your direct sales business can be tricky! When you’re starting out as a new member of your direct sales company and your best friend agrees to host a party for you, you typically do one of two things: (1) word vomit all over them with all of the cool things there are to do to gear up for the party or (2) go radio silent because you’re terrified that you’ll tell them the wrong thing.
Take a deep breath and worry not.
The Hostess Coaching direct sales training comes with a video series that helps walk you through the steps to successfully coach your hostess. One of the tricks that I love the most – and honestly hadn’t thought of it until I went to the Hostess Coaching direct sales training! – is that it taught me how to break up the tasks into bite-sized pieces. So instead of sending paragraphs upon paragraphs of what needs to be done, they’re bite-sized.
And I can guarantee your hostess is going to appreciate that coaching and prepping far more than you know!
And are you ready for the mind-blowing segue for Hostess Coaching?
What? Why? What’s the deal?
Here’s the secret about that… and why you want to spend some of your direct sales training time learning about effective sponsoring strategies and responding to objections.
If you have someone who’s willing to host because they love the products and want to reap all of the benefits of hosting a party for you, which includes free products and/or significantly discounted products, then you may have someone who is eager to join your company… but they may not know it just yet!
Sponsoring does seem like a Sisyphean task at times, and it’s something that a lot of direct sellers struggle with! You’re enthusiastic about the opportunity and what your direct sales company can provide for you, but the person you’re talking to may not see eye to eye with you. And that’s what’s so great about Sponsoring Strategies. This direct sales training course can help change your mindset about sponsoring… which can help you grow your team! And between you, me, and the fence post… after taking this direct sales training course, I’ve heard that people have sponsored new team members within a week from taking this course!
